Doing Your Own French Manicure

I can say that French manicure is one of the oldest manicure styles and still it is very trendy and fashionable even in our days. It hasn’t changed much over the years it has the same classy and elegant look as in the beginning. Naturally the techniques have changed a bit in order to make it easier to create it. There have been ‘invented’ some variations of it as well, such as the reverse French manicure, that is just like the traditional one, only it is upside down.

When it comes to doing your own French manicure those who have never done it before are a little scared because most of them don’t have any idea where to start. In this article I will guide you through all the steps of creating your French manicure.

The first thing you should do is to make sure that you have everything you need. It is a good idea to buy a French manicure kit. These usually consist of three polishes: a white polish, another color that can be nude, pink or beige (depending on which do you prefer) and a top coat or a base coat. These kits usually have tapes as well to help you create the perfect smile lines.

When you got all you need you should start by removing any trace of polish from your nails. Then do your manicure: clip the nails, file them, push the cuticles and do any other thing that you usually do. Then, just as in the case of any other manicure, start with a base coat. This is important because it protects your nails from the damages nail polish might cause. Once it has dried you should stick the tapes but be careful to stick them well so that no polish will be able to get under it to ruin your work.

After the tapes are in place, you can polish the tips. You should wait a few minutes before removing the tapes for the polish to be a little dried, otherwise it might lose its shape. If you wait too much the tapes might pull off the polish as well. When the tips are dried you can apply the other color. There is no trick here, you simply apply as any other kind of polish. After all the nails dried it is good to apply a top coat to protect the manicure from chipping and other things that might ruin your work. Basically this is all you have to do to give yourself a French manicure.

If you don’t want to use tape, you could also draw the smile lines by hand if you think that your hands are steady enough. I think that there is nothing to be afraid of when doing your own French manicure. If you make a mistake you can always start over. Just remember not to be nervous; this should be something fu to do, but if you are stressed about the results, that might ruin everything.
